hids have diffrent reflectors and diffrent lenses then non hid has something to do with frequencys and how for the light sits in the housing.

The housings are quite different.

I see what you mean. I was under the impression the question was whether there was a difference in the headlight housing when using HID lights as a replacement for halogens.
But yes, the housing for the HID factory projector lights are D2S (I believe) whereas the housing for the halogen/hid bulb is a 9006.
