The wiring for heated mirrors isnt there on CX-5 Touring. Theres no OEM accessory kit available either. I believe dealer also needs to reprogram some comfort module to make them work even if youve installed all the hardware. Its an expensive mod for sure.It would have cost over $500 to have dealer install. I ultimately decided not to give Mazda anymore of my money.
I live in the Northeast as well and I totally agree that it was a fail on Mazda not to include this into their mid level CX-5.
That being said, I have a small ice scraper in my car which easily gets the ice off the mirrors.
I also need to know if different trim's have different harnesses. I have a 2016.5 sport with rear defrost. Curious to know if my harness for the side mirrors has power for heated mirrors.I'm a new CX-5 GT Reserve owner so am trolling a bunch of these threads just to get myself up to speed.
Your comments made me go look.
The 2018/2019 Grand Touring trim (GT, GT Reserve, GT Signature) comes with heated side mirrors. They turn on with the rear window defogger. They are not offered on the other CX-5 trims. Don't know about prior model years, only the 2018/2019 are on Mazda's website.
Funny, I don't see Rear Window Defogger specifically listed on any of the Trim descriptions. If you have a Rear Window Defogger, at least that would seem to mean that no special "programming" would be required...the heated mirrors are switched through that existing accessory. Now the question is do different trims have different wiring harnesses.
Is it confirmed? Is there a way to tell by looking at the harness plug inside the door? Does anyone have a wire schematic with the wire designations? So this is confirmed then, that there is no existing wiring to the doors for heated mirrors? I was reading some threads for the previous-generation CX-5 and other models and they seemed to have the wiring into the door, but were missing the extra wires in the mirror harness.
