I believe what you are asking is if you can you plug in an a/m hdrt unit to the ipod docking cable, rather than an ipod. First, you would need an hdrt unit that has an actual interface/communications port similar to an ipod, and not just a 3.5mm stereo jack; If the interface/serial/communications port was a different design than the ipod interface port, you would need a physical adapter to convert to the ipod serial port design. I believe the CX-9's software is specifically designed to work with Apple's software. With that said, if you actually found an hdrt with the same interface, maybe it would work, I don't know. The only way to figure that out would be to try it. Good luck.
