Has anyone tried to get 4 inch speakers into the dash locations?

I'm looking to upgrade my dash speakers on my 2014 CX-5 with Bose. I know the dash fits 3.5 inch speakers just fine, but has anyone tried to fit 4 inch speakers? From the few pictures I've seen of people who have installed new speakers, its also looks like there is a big of open space that might be able to be expanded to fit the larger size.

It looks like many manufactures start to include pivoting tweeter at this size and that sounds like a nice feature to have.

Even the 3.5" Polk, had problems fitting in there. It was touching some plastic pieces in there.

I tried but it was going to be too hard to get cutting tools between the glass and dash to do a proper job. A descent pair of splits would sound just as good or even better.
