GI: protege5 Header

Well the Idea came from this GI thread for whoever is wondering you can see and get an Idea from here.


This is a GI thread only and if there is interest, I will get AMM Status.

The plan is to offer a header for the protege5 either as close as possible or the same as the Pacemaker header or a different one that the shop can design for Us.

I’m needing to see who is interested so you guys start making a list like on any other thread. With option as EGR Yes or no, ceramic coating? (This was mentioned by a member on the original gb thread), or any other options or ideas you guys might think of or want to I can ask the shop and go from there.


for price at first I mentioned them a design as the pacemaker header so they are tryign to match that price or close to with that header. If not maybe we do something different and more custom as mentioned on the original GB thread also and see price and if that would include a custom midpipe or bolt on to stock midpipe.

YES I ALREADY CONTACTED ANTOINE about this thread and the idea/purpose behind it in case it goes go well Ill update to a vendor status.

A CAUTION:
i cannot guarentee that if they fabricate it exactly as per the diagrams that it will magically fit first time. There are going to need to be stubtle adjustments in order to get it to fit nicely. The design was made by taking a basic bounding box around the front and underside of the car by a design friend of mine, and then using that as the absolute boundaries that the primaries coudl fit into... but like so many "back yard" engineering projects, we lacked the specialist equipment to prototype it correctly and provide for proper fitment.

So what i'm saying is taht they may make a first pass at the design and then realise it doesn't quite fit (it should be close though)... and then they will need to make adjustments to get fitment.

Note also that the primaries equalize at the last 90 degree of each pipe (the part that swings under the car) - anything ABOVE that point the runners are not equal length so shortening/lengthening them there will haev a knock on effect on the near-to-perfect equal lengthness. There are some strange shapes and rather agressive bends which require "cutting and shutting" to achieve (you can't just mandrel bend each pipe in one piece) - alot of these bends are to contort the runners such that the requisite length is achieved.

If someone has the time to go hunting the forums, I posted a mocked up "fully assembled" model a few years back..which you can use to get an idea of what it will look like completed.

I also have nothing to do with/want nothing to do with this group buy: I'm happy to dig around for technical information and provide ideas for the fabricators but if ultimately the GB goes to hell like so many group buys in the past then I hereby absolve myself of any responsibility. I've provided an option for you guys but I am not in any way taking a cut on this or whatever... I make no guarentees on how the header will perform (although on paper it should do quite well), the quality of the workmanship and all that crap... I've provided Rico the diagrams in good faith and its up to him and his fabricator now.

Rico should probably also look at AMM status once he's got some price and shizzle worked out.

They will use my car to make sure it's as close as possible and it fits
 
Thanks for the heads up via PM...As mentioned in this thread, AMM Status will be required before this header can be sold.
 
still going. looking for more interest. shop was remodeled so they are just catching up on their previous jobs to get on this.

they said they somehow got a hold of a pacemaker header so they want to clone that and do the gb on that which I think will have the most sells based on what members are looking for.

AFTER that Ill be working on getting the all out header done based on lordworm design if enough interest is shown for it..

just got a txt saying they are about to open the box with header and start looking into it and the process to see what they can do :)
 
thats what i was gonna look up if they do probably like the obx onel lol
 
So they are wanting to make their own header to imitate sort of the pacemaker one since its impossible to get one ..

They will probably take my car for a week to do so once my integra comes out of the shop so I can have a vehicle to drive lol before I sell it..

Then after the first basic header I'll Be having them build me one like the lordworm one
 
because if anything only 4-5 of us want one like that.

pacemaker one more I like to call it 'regular' members want something basic to have a 'little upgrade' from the stock header.

the lw one would be n/a builds like you or like I'm planning to do.
 
Just finding stuff for N/A is hard. Finding something worthwhile is awesome. I'm getting ready to replace the whole exhaust system on my car so this custom work is a goldmine really if it works out.
