Can anyone offer any advice on my 2017 Mazda 2?
While the ignition is off and parked, I always engage the handbrake and leave in gear (the opposite to the way I'm facing - either 1st or reverse.)
The handbrake holds the car, but currently my car rolls when the handbrake is released and the gear is still engaged with the ignition off. Why is this? Gears are engaged without aby issues when driving and there are no noises or anything different to how the car runs.
In Feb 2023 the handbrake failed completely causing injury and damage to the 3rd party.
In 2018 the car (along with almost 300,000 globally Mazda 2, 3 and 6) was recalled for a defective handbrake where it could spontaneously disengage without warning.
