I have yet to hit high 30's with my auto, Im probably averaging 33-35mpg myself. I usually fill up at one bar left which is 30 liters (8 gallons) and get 430 km (270 miles). Thats country roads going about 70kmph with a couple stop signs. Id love to hit 38, I hear people hit 42 but I don't think in an auto.

I've hit 40MPG several times in my auto. The trick is to never go faster than 55mph ;-)

I dont really go over 55mph, 70kph is like 44mph. Maybe I have a bit of a lead foot coming from driving a 5.0L Mustang for 3 years (which averaged 13mpg). It would just be really cool to hit 40mpg soon.
