I am selling my 2002 Mazda Proteg5 with a 5-speed manual transmission. This car has been garage kept and faithfully served me as my daily driver for the past 7 years and has never left me stranded and would make someone a very good and inexpensive daily, a great college car, or even first car. I average 30 mpg in it. The car has a few hundred 130,000 miles on it as of this post. It has the safety package consisting of ABS and side airbags. It is up on all major service and is in very good shape mechanically. Everything works on the car, it passes emissions and there are no warning lights. All service has been done by myself or at Project X Customs. I have an Excel spreadsheet detailing all the work that has been done since purchasing the car in 2008 that I can email upon request. Rear calipers, rotors, and pads were replaced at 127K, clutch, flywheel, timing belt, and water pump were replaced at 106K (they said I had another 50K on the clutch too, so I dont drive the car hard), and the transmission had to be replaced at 117K with a used unit. The transmission had to be replaced because one of the dowel pins from the new flywheel came out and cracked the casing. The dowel pin was replaced and all of them were secured with Loctite and there have been no problems since. The exterior is free of dents with only some rock chips and a scratch on the top or the rear bumper. The interior is very clean with minimal wear showing. The only thing that could even be considered a problem is that rust has started to form in a couple of places. Unfortunately for the Protegs rust around the model badge and on the rear fenders where the bumper meets up forms on almost examples. Please see the pictures below for more details. My price is a starting price and I am open to fair negotiations. Leave a reply or send me a PM with any questions about the car.
