ford probe trans that fits 2003 protege?

Ive seen a couple members are running a ford probe trans from a 4 cylinder in their mazdaspeed proteges.

Was wondering if there is a specific year range that fits? Probably the 2nd gen probe only, but wanting to double check.

Any years better or stronger than others? Gearing?

Any G15MR trans will work, the newer the better.

It would have to be from a 93-97 probe with the 2.0. Keep in mind they wouldnt have the OEM LSD the Speed trans has. The same trans can be found in the 93-97 MX6's, and 93-2002 626's also with the 2.0's.

i thought i read somewhere that the probe transmission gearing was more robust? or different ratio as well? or am i just dreaming?

LSD is no biggie, i'm just looking for one to build with an MFactory and new synchros.

They are two different transaxles. G25MR = Probe, G15MR = Protege. Either one will work.
Google or go to probe talk for specific ratio information. Might search on here as well as I'm sure its floating around here as well.

Any FSDE equipped car. And they're no stronger than any other of the G series transmissions. I run them because they're cheap to get.
