Fog light options

I caught a rock with my drivers side fog light on my MS3 and broke it. Mazda wants $300 for a replacement. "Replacement" makes a direct fit replacement for $150. I can't imagine any after market kits (not oem replacement) looking quite right on the car, but I haven't seen any.

Soo.. Has anyone replaced them with anything aftermarket.. if so, with what and do you have pics?

Or.. Does anyone happen to have a stock drivers side fog light assy they're willing to part with for a reasonable price?

Or.. Are there any bezels made that go where the fog lights go and I'll just go without?

Thanks!

sorry to bring this back from the dead, but what did you end up doing mordant80 ?
my drivers side just broke as well, stupid rock

Also curious. I am debating just buying blanking plates. BOTH of my foglights are now shattered.

No alternative

Still at present there is no one that makes an affordable copy of the stock fog light (hatch). Instead of installing a blanking plate why not install these LED fog light housings? Its possible that you could use the stock fog light housing minus the glass. These are a bit overpriced but you can find more on ebay:

I'm using Laminex now. However if I lose a fog to a rock I'm either going to get these (LED) or Sylvania X1010 auxilary HID low beams in place of the stock fog.

I'm too picky to use something that doesn't fit and cover the hole oem style. The only reason I want to fix them is because it looks like crap with broken glass. Even if no one notices (which they don't) I know they are smashed and it drives me nuts!

I priced out new ones and it is $158/side up here so that's not to bad. I think I will just buy them, then purchase some 3M protector (a guy at work bought some, he said it is almost 1/4 thick!).

The funniest thing is that I don't use my foglights haha. Maybe I will replace them, then install some HID's since I'm on the highway and backroads at all hours of the night on a regular basis.

Haha. For some reason the 2 to 5 hp you would gain at 200km/h doesn't seem to be worth the trouble :p
