I'd say late 80's/early 90's GM pickup in carpool lane to the left. If you watch close enough you can see it drop as it loses it's tire. I should have fallen further back... once I saw sparks I immediately turned on hazards and fortunately had a good 1/8 mile of clear behind me.

This was a good opportunity to utilize good handling of our CX-5 avoiding an accident! Glad you had enough distance from that GM pickup losing a tire!

Yeah.. I was all prepared to likely veer left if he lost control. Vehicle seems to drop enough I wonder if he lost tire & rim... maybe catastrophic wheel bearing failure?

Or could be the whole tire and wheel just got lost due to loose lug nuts. I've seen that happened before, sort of like 《It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World》 movie that the front tire rolling out of a tunnel from this green 44 Jeep Station Wagon driven by Lt. Col. Algernon Hawthorne (Terry-Thomas):

For some reason I always thought that was a Range Rover from UK. May be because it was driven by a British gentleman in the movie!

LR tire blown?

I've seen so many similar or worse traffic accident videos when I was in Taipei visiting as almost every car equipped with a dash cam! One time the dash cam caught TransAsia Airways Flight #235 ATR 72600 crashing on the cars on the highway and into a river!

Eh, if I were that van I wouldn't have sped up. You could see the truck gravitating onto the line before he abruptly changed lanes. That's one big thing I watch for are people who are about to change lanes without signaling. There's many signs that help anticipate it.

I saw a BMW 5-series here with a VERY slick dash-cam. Looked about 2.5"x3", and probably 2-5oz plus a very sexy bracket. It was hanging from the RVM, and looked very well integrated. When I get a sporty vehicle in a few years, I'm definitely getting one, although I can imagine a dash-cam being a double-edged sword for sure.

True... the blue van did seem to accelerate into it.

Surely lots of good cameras out there... Mine is the KDLinks X1.

You can leave the GPS/speed piece unplugged or disabled if you desire. Also connected it with the USB version of Inviscord to my Homelink mirror.

Why can't anyone use the cameras already integrated and installed in the car, I meant those who have that option installed? Wondering..........

Kedis, would you mind elaborating on your dash cam install? I have mine powered via the fuse box near the dead pedal, but tapping into the Homelink mirror sounds like a great idea.

Invisicord connector pins just push into the backside of the Homelink plug on mirror. You need to ensure you are hitting connecting to the accessory pins on the mirror or it would stay on all the time. IIRC... different pins are used on the 2016+.

These threads will should give you some ideas as well. Never had anything come unplugged and easily removable as well.
