I recommend opening them and letting them air out for 2-3 days because they had a strong chemical smell brand new.

for those interested, OEM door scuffplates with LED,

a bit pricey but super easy to install and offered by our forum sponsor Med mazda,

LED's are battery operated, and triggered by magnets....
