GALESBURG, IL - No one was hurt after a mortar was found at a home in Galesburg. The mortar was discovered Thursday by a resident who was cleaning out a relative's garage. The resident brought the mortar to the Galesburg Public Safety Building lobby and turned over to the police. It was then removed from the building and placed in the grass on the east side of the public safety building. City employees were evacuated before the bomb squad determined there was no explosive material in the device, which was disposed of properly.


So, this person finds what they believe to be a live explosive device and what do they do? Load it up in the car and carry it down to the lobby of the local police department. What could go wrong?
