CX-60 already outselling the CX-5 in Japan!?

Unless I'm mistaken, that's what I'm seeing from Driver, a Japanese automotive new model magazine.

CX-60 registrations (all variants) from October 2022 to March 2023: 2687

CX-5
registrations (all variants) from October 2022 to March 2023: 2235

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the numbers, I thought the CX-60 seemed to be doing well but not THAT well...Especially as a completely new model. Not surprisingly, the CX-5 dominates sales here but according to these numbers, the CX-60 is likely now Mazda's top selling model in Japan! That said, I'm not sure about the kei (mini car) Mazdas as those type of cars are still extremely popular in Japan but in terms of the non-kei cars, it's all about the CX-60.

Very impressive imo...I wonder if this is a positive sign for the CX-90 (and later CX-70) in North America. We're already seeing a lot of interest in the CX-90. The new CX-00 models may very well carry on the success from the CX-5 and possibly take it to a new level which is exactly what Mazda wants and needs in order to survive and thrive in this highly competitive market.
