Ok, I installed my no-name eBay ($75 shipped) header about 2 or 3 weeks ago with minimal trouble...
Why? Well from my searching and digging I deduced that the 1st cat was plugged from a bad coil pack (or two) or maybe from the piles of smoke that blow out the exhaust after the car sits for 8+ hours. Hmm, either way, buying a $75 (Shipped) header was going to be less expensive than replacing the cat...
Now that the job is done, the idle has been acting crazy. One of the first things I did to the car was clean the EGR, so I believe that is ok. I've been thinking, however, that I did NOT disconnect the battery before, during, or after the installation of the header. Should I need too to reset the ECU? I thought after a couple of weeks of driving it would just adjust itself. It has not...
Anything else I should do/try? Is this common? Is it just the way it is?
