Coin holders?

Different question. Was looking around my cx9 today looking for a spot to put some change and couldn't find anything! The slot in front of the shifter goes too deep for coins IMO and I couldn't find a good spot in the center console. Is there something I'm missing? My p5 had a nice handy cubby right under the fog light switch (about where are t/c and parking assist buttons are) My contour had coin slots in it's center console. I can't believe a vehicle with this nice of an interior is missing such a small detail.

Anyone know?

My 2012 had a cubby that is just below the BSM, t/c, buttons and that is were I keep mine.

For some reason, the coin holder was deleted after the 2012 model.

I don't think I've had any loose change since 2009.

Explains the dilema, might have to find a u pull place and part one out. There appears to be a spot for it under said buttons. . .

When they removed the change holder drawer/tray after 2012, they should have at least provided some sort of solution in the center console. My Explorer had coin slots in the center console...I think they were the ONLY that still worked when I got rid of that heap!

In my 2006 Mazda3, I just used the ashtray for change. That was the one thing that ashtrays were actually useful for!

Maybe the reason they got rid of it is because most people don't use cash anymore??? The only reason I have anything in mine is because I have to go to my doctor every month and it's paid parking only! So I'm trapped inside the lot unless I have $3-$4 cash to pay the ransom...and they don't take plastic!

One of the very few gripes I have about my 2012 CX-9 is the lack of storage space in/around the center console. I can't stand to sit on my wallet while I drive, so I take it out and put it in the cubby in front of the shifter along my phone. I can slide the key fob in there beside them, but it's packed full then. I'm trying to get in the habit of putting my phone inside the armrest since I don't need the handset thanks to Bluetooth. But I'm such a creature of habit...

Honda did the same thing on their Pilot as my wife just traded her 2009 in on a 2014 and there is no Change holder and she not happy about that change

Only issue I have with the 2012 Change holder was it was just a drawer with no real separation for the coins so once it is full the coins fall out....

Mentioning Honda caused me to have flashbacks to buying my first new car in 1991. It was a ’91 Civic 3-door and I talked my parents into letting me splurge for the ‘DX’ instead of the ‘base’. The DX had more powerful engine (92hp vs. 70hp) and a 5-speed manual instead of a 4-speed. It also had cloth instead of vinyl seats, tilt steering, plastic wheel covers, body color bumpers and…a coin holder! I still had to pay extra for a passenger side mirror, digital clock, AM/FM Cassette, A/C and center armrest. But the coin holder was standard!
