Keep me posted, that $400 would be a good jump start on this xD

next time you go for an FMIC, look at some of the other brands, the Protege Garage FMIC I believe has a much easier and shorter piping solution than the Cobb FMIC, but if you want assurance of quality and beautiful fit and finish Cobb is definitely the way to go.
 
intercooler is the first gen cobb right?

yes it is, the v2's split the cold pipe that runs behind the radiator into two pieces and has a different bend on the hotpipe to core pipe.

if you take the right precautions when installing the v1 though I actually think it's a better application, one less coupler means one less chance of a boost leak or popping a coupler. The areas that might rub or otherwise have clearance issues will be fine if you make sure to install the piping correctly and carefully.

is intercooler still for sale, and cheaper since retail on 1st gen was 995? want but too rich for my blood....
