Changing only the oil filter?

I'm wondering, can I change only the oil filter? Will oil spew out other than what's currently in the filter? I'm running full synthetic oil at around 4500 miles (90% hwy driving) and the oil looks fairly clean. Looking to save a few bucks and a bit of time. Any comments or concerns with this method is appreciated.

You will lose only the oil in the filter if it's changed.

i would just change oil already. but i mean if u wanted to save a few bucks then i guess..but i just think its a waste to just change the filter.
