ok guys. im at 18,700 miles. and all i have is a cobb sri. had it on for about 1200 miles and got my first CEL today. took it to autozone to get it scanned and the result was a little piece of paper telling me my car either has a lean air-fuel ratio or a faulty 02 sensor..... any suggestions??

Another ?.... could this be caused by a dirty MAF sensor??

Put the stock air box back on unplug the battery for a few min's then re-connect. Then see if the CEL comes back on. You'll know if it's the intake causing or the car

dude my post that is like 3 below yours tells you everything. i had the same exact issues. probably fuel pump. if your dealer is cool they'll do it for free but if not then its expensive :(

damn. i would hate to go back to stock just for a dealer trip. but its probably worth it in the long run...

do you remember exactly what the code number was? i ask because alot of that have the MS CAI were gettting a lean at idle code also and it turned about to just be a small trip in the computer...i think it was like P1028 or something along those lines

I don't even remember and I can't find it. I'm hoping it's nothing big.

p2187 is the lean out at idle. there is a common p0401 code thats faulty exhaust gas recirc. a few of the cels come commonly with the territory of mods. i fixed my 2187 with an air straightener but i have MS intake. check your install and make sutre there arent any leaks. also check your inlet pipe to the turbo because the factory clamps suck and that one can come loose and let unwanted air in giving you a lean out code for sure. if all your intake pipes and intercooler pipes are secure then take it to your dealer if going back to the stock air box doesnt work. it may be your fp. chences are it isnt but better to be safe then sorry. you could also look up what TSB's there are for the0 08.5's. there were a few for the 07's that came out. not so sure of the 08.5's. good luck

ya thats the one i got p2187, i cleared it and i never came back...if you clear it and it dont come back and everything is tight then you can pry just shrug it off it may have just been a hiccup thats what i did.

thanks for the help guys. I've almost got my nuts and bolts together to try the catless dp and rp install. BUT i have the remedy for a cel then. ^_^

update: got home and found the paper with the code on it. p0131. so im startin to get worried cuz thats a code i haven't seen at this forum site...

Can we get readers for Mazdas or do we rely on AutoZone & others?

I have a VW with VagCom on my laptop. The Vag software has saves me thousands of bucks in CELs (plus allows me to adjust EGR, Injection Quantity...(sssh))

Do we have similar readers (& and overwriters!) for Mazdas?

http://www. autoenginuity .com/products.html... Remove spaces. I am not affiliated with them but it was a simple google search. I'm sure you can find one if you search for it. And my autozone doesn't charge for scanning codes but i have heard others do.

Anyone?? code p0131....

Search is your friend.

"It's the primary O2 sensor in the exhaust manifold."

"New sensor. You can even get a Mazda OEM universal replacement part that is cheaper than the Protege OEM O2... The part number is FSD7-18-861A, here in Qc it was 95$ instead of 200+$ ! Other that the wire color shceme that is a diffrent and that le length of the wiring is slightly longer (use some tie-wrap if you don't want it to hit the rad's fans!) it's simply perfect!"

"That's what I did when I had the same code last spring and my car have been running with this part for the last 6 months and everything is as it was before..."

"BTW, I received the info about the universal part from someone I know who works Parts in a Mazda Dealership."

"Went to autozone to verify that the P0131 CEL was for the FRONT 02 sensor. it was (that's the one on the manifold). they had 2 available for around $260. I ended up finding one in town for $140, stock OEM style. and had it installed for $48."
