Buying a Child seat

Yes, will be double latching. I just found the ISOFIX LATCH points. It seems they can only be used in the right and left outboard seats and not the center seat because the ISOFIX LATCH points may be too far apart from each other.

Some ISOFIX/LATCH*1 equipped child-restraint systems can be placed in the center position and will reach the nearest ISOFIX/LATCH*1 lower anchors which are 406 mm (16.0 in) apart. ISOFIX/LATCH*1 compatible child-restraint systems (with attachments on belt webbing) can be used at this seating position only if the child-restraint system manufacturer's instructions state that the child-restraint system can be installed to ISOFIX/LATCH*1 lower anchors that are 406 mm (16.0 in) apart.

What is the experience with the Chicco Keyfit systems?

We had a used one from my sister. It worked well for us. Cover is relatively easy to take off to wash when something does go wrong, and it will go wrong at some point.

You can get extra bases so you can use 1 seat for multiple cars.

We just got the matching adapter for the stroller and made life easy.

I got the Chicco Keyfit 30 (june) in 2021 CX-5 GT (november) behind the passenger seat. Since the car seat is rear facing, the passenger seat does not recline or move back as much as you would like. We are 5'8"/5'6" and have no problems sitting comfortable in the passenger seat.

Now that the baby is almost a year, we have to look at another car seat since she's getting kinda tall. This car seat is usually for newborns to around 18 months. Looking into a 4 in 1 seat as those will adapt to your needs (rear to front facing) as the baby grows.

Best thing about the Chicco Keyfit 30 is that you can remove the whole seat (base stays in car) with 1 latch without disturbing the baby and it's easier to carry in places such as doc visits, daycare, etc.
The 4-1 or 6-1 are not easily removable and they are full attached to the car.

Also, purchased a Chicco frame stroller with this car seat as all you need to do is remove the car seat from the car and click it into the stroller. Again, it's facing you, so as the baby grows, they might want to see less of you and more of the world. :)

Edit: spelling

Once you're done with the rear facing one, Simpson makes a racing seat for kids. 👍

I answered my own question. I spoke to Courtney, the Chicco national car seat specialist, after referral from the Chicco chat. She called me less than 10 minutes after the chat ended.

Chicco specs are that ISOFIX LATCH anchor points must be no wider than 11.0 inches apart. Using ISOFIX LATCH anchors, the preferable seat positions are those that have been configured for ISOFIX LATCH, so in the case of the 21 CX5, the two outboard positions,

She said the use of the center seat belt would be the recommended anchoring method if the ISOFIX LATCH positions are greater than 11.0 inches apart. She also said to check with the Mazda manual to see if "borrowing" the two inboard ISOFIX LATCH positions was allowable.

I hope this information is useful to Chicco Keyfit 35 base owners.

One last bit of Trivia, Chicco is pronounced "KEY-koh" I guess that's Italian, not my American "CHICK-oh"

Seat belts certainly work, but they aren't nearly as easy as the newer hook technology.

There's really no good reason to double them up

The limitation to the latch system is maximum weight that it will support.

For my Britax it is 35lb rearward and 40 lb forward facing.

On the bright side the install for the Britax is super simple and way easier than a lot of other ones using the seatbelt.
