ok well i have a 1988 mazda mx-6 and all of a sudden today a probelm occured. when u start the car, everythings fine ,but as soon as u let go of the clutch theres a really load grinding noise. and also same thing when driving in gear.

my dad said that its the cltuch ball bearing that broke. Well i wanted to know what u guys think. and if it is how much would it cost, lik what do i need to buy,i will do all the labor.

also does anyone know any links for how to take apart all that to fix it......

thanks!

From reading on howstuffworks.com they say a commonproblem is this:

"Another problem sometimes associated with clutches is a worn throwout bearing. This problem is often characterized by a rumbling noise whenever the clutch engages."

this sorta sounds like my problem...how do i go about "fixing" this?

Pull the transmission out remove the bearing at the clutch release fork, replace and install in reverse of removal.

anyone know any other possibilities that it might be? i dont want to spend 10 hours taking out the tranny and putting it back with a new throwout bearing just for the problem to still be there....
