Bent connecting rod!!

what are my options the car has 160 000k the dealer told me they dont want to change the rod because they have to give a guarantee and they dont want to give a guarantee on a 160 000k engine so post your ideas plz!!!and i am not selling the car the body is in perfect condition and i have just changed all four shocks brand new tires/mags ive put money into it selling it is out of the question!!! thanks guys! its an 2007 mazdaspeed 3
 
Your solution is to call mazda and say the dealer is not willing to take your money.

Is your car stock? You're in luck.

If not you'll have to search for a race shop willing to do the work... but they won't warranty it.
 
It depends on your budget and the condition of your block. You can fight with the dealership and hope they change their minds. You can find another dealership, and hope they have a different view on rod replacement. Both those seem unlikely. In my experience, dealerships much prefer to swap the next higher assembly (short or long block, depending on the condition of the head).

So your options are:

1) A new stock or upgraded short block with your existing head.

2) A new long block, stock or remanufactured

3) Find a shop with a good reputation and some experience with the MZR and have them do the necessary work. I would suggest a set of stronger aftermarket rods. I believe Carrillo offers options that will work with stock pistons. The cylinders may need to be honed, which will require oversized aftermarket pistons (88.5mm vs 88mm standard OEM bore). At that point, depending on labor, it may be more cost effective to revisit option 1

Okay so i got a few prices made and so far the best i got was 6k to reforge the whole engine with oversized pistons better rods they are changing everything and the guy said that when he was done with it it would be 10 times better than it was brand new!! now im thinking about having it done what's your advice and im wondering what could boost the Hp while he has the engine in his hands!
 
That isn't a bad price, assuming it includes everything. Who is doing the build? Do they have any experience with the MZR engine, and what type of warranty are they providing? What pistons and rods will be going in? Will you be having any head work done?

I have not built my motor yet, but I would advise sending the injectors out to a specialist for cleaning. I will probably be using these folks sometime within the next few months. Obviously, you'll want to replace the VVT actuator and oil pump while you're in there. I would also recommend sticking with new OEM head studs vs. off the shelf APR. OEM studs hold fine until north of 450 whp, and don't need to be re-torqued after a heat cycle.

To give you better advice, I really need to know what you have done to the car so far and what your ultimate goal for it is. If you want to make more power, you'll need an upgraded HPFP and some sort of tuning solution.
