1996 Mazda Protege LX
Hi all,

I am the happy owner of a 1996 Mazda Protege LX (1.5l). Today my mechanic broke the bolt which provides tension for the drive belt. This is an odd looking bolt as it has a hole threaded through the head to accept a longer bolt that applies tension to the belt. None of the parts stores in my area list this part. Where can one find something to substitute for this part?

You might still be able to order the OEM bolt from a Mazda dealer. Guaranteed fit and quality. It will probably have to be special ordered and would take a couple days. If you need it immediately, you could get it at any junkyard (a decent one should have a Protege of this era.) Alternately, you can scout e-bay.
