I know what the code means but wondering what people have done to fix it.
Possible causes
- Faulty Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor
- Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
What does this mean? What does this mean?
When is the code detected?
Transmission Control Module (TCM) detects excessively high voltage from the fluid temperature sensor.
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Possible shifting problems
P0713 Mazda Description
The Automatic Transmission (A/T) fluid temperature sensor detects the A/T fluid temperature and sends a signal to the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

BUT my question is how did you fix it or have it fixed.

Ive changed the sensors twice... pretty sure its all grounded. but is there a way to actually test it

According to the service manual, the test for proper transmission fluid sensor function is to measure the resistance across two of the pins at various temperatures. See the attached image file:
