I plan on getting a 4 point roll bar with removable cross brace and shoulder harness bar. This will mostly be for street use but of course the car will definitly see the track.

I was wondering if anyone already has one.
Pros/cons?

What are some of the things you've noticed about how your car feels?

My buddy has one in his 1991 Escort GT, a 1st gen Protege under the skin. The bars that "block" you from getting in and out of the car easily are removable. The "front half" is also removable, leaving just your basic "roll bar." According to him, it stiffens the car substantially, but it does add weight. He was autocrossing this car in the early 90's in a SFR-Only class called OSP, Open Street Prepared. The rules were/are: no slicks, licensed for the street. It's a pretty wild class. He did well, the 1st gen Protege/2nd gen Escort was a decent solo II ride, lighter than the current Protege.

I was reading that the roll bar only adds about 50 - 60 lbs. I'm already removing my subs, their enclosure, and getting rid of my heavy 17" rims.

I'm pretty sure that the BPT swap puts you in D-Modified for Solo II competition. Get a SCCa rulebook since there are a bunch of allowances for modifications in the Modified catagory and if you want to be competitive you'll need all of them.

Wait..BPT...damn I hate reading through SCCA rules...I think that makes you an SM car. Read here...don't strip your interior.
