JC Cosmo
Hi team,

Nathan from New Zealand here. Bought my 13b JC about a year ago. It was a rolling body after the engine died & owner started pulling it apart but gave up.
Since then its had a full rebuild which took a bit of treasure hunting to find all the original parts that were missing incl. upper & lower manifold, throttle body & various other parts.
After the rebuild we found the turbos were no gd so had to go back to shop & replace. Luckily i had a spare set of twins which turned out to be in great condition.

Ive fitted some black 18s since the above pic.
Currently waiting on some swaybar links from
Mazda in Japan & it will be road legal finally!!
While its jacked up im doing some other work to improve it.
Firstly ive acquired woodgrain trim for the dash & had it restored. Unfortunately the clips for the middle section are missing so need to find these if anyone can help??
Next week the intercooler is coming out & replaced with a slightly bigger & better rx7 v mount unit.
After that will be exhaust & suspension. Want it to be sitting like this pic ive photoshopped...

Welcome once again and thanks for posting about your Cosmo!

Good for you...Rescuing a 13B Cosmo...Looks fantastic! There can't be many 13B examples in this good of a condition these days...Any idea how many JC (13B and 20B) are in New Zealand?

Any plans to upgrade the ECU / EMS?

Looking forward to your updates!

Unsure of the number. At a guess maybe 30 of which a handful are just parts cars.
I personally know of at least 5 running ones & someone posted a rolling body fs on our version of ebay & it got bombed with people looking for parts.
It was a mission finding the genuine parts to rebuild this one. Even had to convince someone to change parts off an rx2.

Initial plans after the above work is to just get it on the road & enjoy it. I want to keep it fairly original but the thought of single turbo & manual are always in the back of my mind.

Thanks for the info and updates...Eventually I plan on upgrading my radiator and intercooler...I'm still running the stockers!

Is that a custom intercooler or one meant for an RX-7? Are you going to use the stock mounting location and piping setup?

Hi Nathan. Nice save on the Cosmo. Very nice condition inside and out. What are you doing ECU wise if you upgrade any further after the intercooler like opening up the exhaust etc. Have you seen the 20b Cosmo that has just been imported here in NZ and listed, with only 68000km it looks very original. Good luck with your car.
Darryl
