2nd gear gone :( what to do ?

was hauling ass from 1st then dropped down to 2nd and it felt like it was just in neutral,now I can just put it in 2nd gear without the clutch and it just revs, before I felt like I had to push it farther then the others cause it would grind when bearly in 2nd and had to push it farther to get in 2nd. Any ideas what to do guys ?

Tranny swap from a wrecker would probably be your easiest/fastest/cheapest route.

Or just get used to driving your new 4-speed,...

what am I looking for repair costs, just to clarify what Trannys would fit? just any protege?

I'de guess $800-1200. $400-500ish for the transmission, and somewhere around 4 to 6 hours labour depending on who does it...

if replaced, does only protege 5 transmissions work?

01-03 Protege5's, and 01-03 Protege's IIRC.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
