2019 CX-5 CarPlay question

We recently purchased a 2019 CX5 for our daughter who has been driving both of our vehicles and is used to the touchscreen on our vehicles. In the 19, the touchscreen doesn't work while driving. I know that the knob thingy can be used, but I want her to be able to touch the MAPS app if she needs to to get directions and stuff easier. I know that in the newer ones, you can change the setting to allow the touchscreen to work while driving. Is there anything that I can do to get it to work?

Edited because I misinterpreted/misread.

Is your infotainment firmware up to date? I'm not sure if updating to the latest firmware would make a difference, but it might be worth a shot.

I use the little button on the left steering wheel group for the voice command feature to pull up an address if I'm driving. Seems to work well for me.
