Im impressed with the fuel economy on this thing. My morning drive consists of 25kms of highway drive (steady 100-110km/h) and then 25kms of stop and go (60-80km/h)...therefore 50/50 mixed.

I find the 2.5T very easy to gently accelerate to speed with very little (maybe no) turbo boost. And then when I am maintaining a constant speed of 60 or 80km/h on level road, it will do so in the 5L/100km area, which is very impressive.

My best morning drive sofar = 7.5L/100km (31MPG)

In comparison using the same drive
My 2014 Odyssey which i traded in for the CX-9 (9.0L/100km)
My 2013 Merc GLK350 (10.0L/100km)

This is the trick to getting turbo engines to be efficient. Dig into the turbo when you need it but try to dig into the boost as little as possible. If you can accelerate casually, you're getting the advantages of the smaller engine. Once the turbo spools up, you're using about as much fuel as an equivalently powered V6. In order to make this work, the engine has to be well matched to the vehicle. Put a 2.0L turbo in a 3 row crossover (like Ford did with the first Ecoboost Explorer) and you're spinning the turbos all the time. Put a somewhat larger engine in there and you stand a chance of keeping the turbo still under some driving conditions and mpg will reflect that.

My best tank has been 7.9L/100km, which was a long drive on a 2 lane highway on the Lake Huron coast.
My average so far has been 9.7L/100km, calculated with the Fuely app, having driven ~3500 km so far. I'm pretty pleased so far.

That is impressive. I guess I don't care about my foot...averaging about 10.4L/100km on a combination of highway and city (70% highway, 30% city).
