2012 CX9 using oil

I've notice lately that my wife's 2012 cx9 seems to be using oil. Around 4,000 miles post oil change, the oil level is around a quart above the fill line. Has anyone had any issues with this engine using oil? This was a new cx9 and has been taken care of since we got it. I typically change the oil every 5k, but am wondering if I need to start sooner...

I also have a 2012 and have noticed the same thing. I have noticed when I had the dealer change twice and also when I changed twice. I am at 20k miles. I have been keeping an eye on it also...more often than I had to do with any other vehicle. I also wonder what is up with this.

5w20 uses about 1qt every 5k. At least that was my findings.
Switch to 30 weight and in my case it dropped
to negligible in the winter and about .25qt per 5k in the summer.
5w20 squeezes out slightly added fuel economy but robs the engine in the long term.
But once the motor wears out, the warranty will be expired.
I switched to 5w30 as soon as my powertrain warranty expired.
