2004 rx-8 GT help needed.

Hey guys,
I am looking into buy a rx-8 that my friend is selling.
But I got hell a lotta questions to ask you guys before i purchase it!

here it goes...
First off, its 04 rx-8 GT he said, full option just no navigation system.
about 8000 miles.
I will add pics at the bottom :rock:
Its got veilside bodykit and Carbon fiber hood.
It looks nice... but the thing is

one of his headlight is out! and fender needs to be fixed,
I am not sure how bad the impact was. he got hit from side.
not sure if bodykit needs to be replaced.
yea I know its better, if i go look at the car but the car is about 4 hours away.

how much does it cost to get a headlight and fender?
Where can I get them cheap?

damn this thing takes... premium gas...
my gas money....




Well, right now i have 92 nissan 240sx convertible in a perfect condition.
probably going to sell it. if i get this.
it was my project car for silvia. but... my friend is giving it to me for real cheap.
I can not pass on that. :ylsuper:

You can change the bulb in the headlight yourself. It isn't that difficult. As for fixing the fender, thta would depend alot on what the going rate is in your area. You should be able to call a few body shops and ask them. Otherwise ask for friend to drive it to a bodt shop for an est.

(werd) Theres an awesome community over there for the RX-8. I had the honor of meeting a lot of them in person @ one of the meets in PA @ evolution performance...

Otherwise as far as parts are concerned... Onlinemazdaparts.com or head to their forum (listed near the top of the forum index) and ask for pricing on any parts you need.

As far as recalls.... a lot of them were ECU flashing and there was an engine recall but Im not sure of the details.

sorta, I can squeez out 20-22mpg in the city, thats with the A/C on 50% of the time. I can also squeez out almost 25mpg (24-25) on the highway crusing at 65-70mph with the A/C on about 80% of the time.

Of course if I REALLY romp on it, I will go sub 15mpg qucikly...lol.

The headlight is expensive (over $900 new if HID) to replace unless you can get a decent used one.

Fender not sure about.

10 times first place show car with only 13,500 for mileage...mazdaspeed, seiben, greddy, the guys knew what they were doing with that one and it looks nice. wish I was closer to IL.

Me, there is no way I will get more than 20 MPG no matter what I do, no way at all. My average is about 15 MPG.

I can tell you from first hand infomation, I got hit about a month ago and the replacement of left front fender ,left headlight, bumper cover ,body work labor including painting and blending cost $4212.48. I needed a new wheel ,about $450. the lights like $900. hope this helps this is for a bodyshop in fairfield Ct so perhaps the labor rate is cheaper where you live

Wouldnt aftermarket HID's cost a hell of a lot less? I mean you can purchase an HID kit for $200 and that includes the bulbs. $900 sounds like what the dealer would charge.

that 900 includes the headlight housing itself, and the HID bulb and ballast, the other bulbs that go in the housing and I belive the wiring harness as well.

its not uncommon for the 1 peice sealed headlights on modern cars to cost 500-800+ each.

Plus the fact that they are self leveling as well.
