2003 P5 Roof Racks

Okay so this is a two part question...

1) Is it possible to mount the original stock Protege5 Roof Rack on a P5 that didn't come with the roof rack originally?

2) If so, does anyone have one they are willing to sell that is in good working order, or know where I can buy one? If not, is there a manufacturer that makes an after-market rack that I can use?

Thanks ahead of time for any help you guys can provide.

Hi,
Don't have one for sale, but am looking to buy the front and rear caps and stays that keep them in place. These are the covers where the rack attaches. Interested?

Rack caps.

Yes I am interested, if I can find a rack to put in those slots. It's kinda a wait and see issue for me right now.

1. Yes.

2. Check around, there are plenty of people that want your filler strips. An even trade is a good thing. To get an idea of the install look in the How-to section under "removing roof rack" Nicely done writeup.

Bought my 02 P5 used and it didn't come with the rack fillers. Went down to the dealership and they wanted 142 bucks!!! for them. Did a lot of surf'n on the web for them, have yet to find any.

I have a stock roof rack i bought thinking it came with the big strips, I have the filler strips. I'm definately interested in selling.

are we talking about the fillers for the spots of the stock rack like the flush mount filler or the filler like the caps so u still have the rails jst not the rack part??? cuz im looking for the flush mount fillers

Sorry for any confusion, i have the P5 that came with the flush mount filler strips, so i can't use the rails that i bought since I don't have the Mounting Strips. I'm interested in selling the rails if anyone is interested.

I got this roof rack from the dealership when I bought my car, they screw into the holes under the plastic covers... They work well, I've got a bike rack and ski rack that both mount to it. Is this something like you are looking at getting?

hey navy if u are still intrested in having a rack ill trade ya my stock rack with the rails and the fillers(caps) for ur flush mount rails

If you're looking for function I'd takeup hatter on his Yakima rack. TONS better for functionality. I've had the same rack for 3cars and 9years now without a hitch. still looks pretty to boot.

Nowthen, I'm prettysure adding a stock rack to your car will require some drilling or cutting in some frrm as my g/f's required filling when she swapped her rack for someone's strips. Thatsaid, there's MANY people who'd love to swap with you. I for one prefer having the cleaner setup, and running a REAL rack instead.

I have the stock roof racks that came off my 2002 P5, and I am interested in getting rid of them. They were on my car for 22,000 miles roughly or about 2 years. I think, I have all the part that i took off and the instructions. If any member(s) are interested please email me at Binny242000@yahoo.com

Thank's

Sunny
