2003 Mazda Protege DX - Air Intake

I have a seriously ill air intake hose. She is taped up but bleeding, my mpg is the evidence. Poor thing was that way when I bought it. Oreilly's has a Dormann replacement for bout $37, though amazon has it for $27 shipped

I want to know, however, is there a pretty aluminum pipe alternatve available out in the big world that will fill that spot?

Also, has anyone ever bypassed the resonance chamber?

Vibrant sells lengths and bends of aluminum pipe. They're my go-to.

Resonance chamber is (as far as I know) only there for noise reduction, and possibly torque. Any body who has installed a cold air or short ram intake has bypassed (or really, eliminated) the resonance chamber,

I paid like $35 shipped for my short ram intake and it's been great so far. Installed it about a year ago and put over 15,000 on it.
