Looking at the specs for my speed3 they list the final drive ratio for 1st thru 4th gears as 3.941 : 1 and 5th and 6th at 3.350 : 1. How do they get two final drive ratios in the one transaxle?
2 secondary shafts in mesh with the ring gear. No.1 shaft for gears 1-4, No.2 shaft for gears 5 & 6, (i.e. ring gear on the diff is in contact with both shaft gears), and different ratios for each shaft.
