1st to 2nd gear grind

I just purchased a 2008 mazdaspeed 3. Love the car. It has 50300 miles and I just started noticing a 1st to 2nd gear slight grind. If I'm sitting in nutrual I can shift it in and out of second gear all day and no grind. Any ideas of what could be going on here?

Either:
1- Driver
2- Syncro's
or both

The soft, sloppy stock rear engine mount is notorious, even when our cars were new, for causing this "grind." An aftermarket mount or insert is an almost standard first upgrade mod in these cars.

Search for threads in second gear grind and rear motor mount. Dozens of them. Literally.
