2018 CX-5 & 2020 CX-30
Hello everyone, new to the forums here.

Was considering a 2018 CX-5 and was wondering if I should take advantage of lease specials ending end of October, or should I wait until later on in the year after the 2019 CX-5 releases for even better savings. About what time of year would be best to strike a deal?

Also, not too familiar with differences between 2018 and 2019 except for the turbo model that most have been waiting on. Pros and cons of each model year?

Thanks in advance to everyone for your advice!

The 2018 has cylinder deactivation, which some on here hate emotionally/intellectually, but noone has had an issue with it, functionally. If you don't care to buy a Turbo, I'd try to find a 2017 still on lots, if you want to avoid this. If not, maybe wait until 2019, drive the turbo, see if you care, and then buy 2018 if you don't.

Time of year - usually end of quarter, or end of year - but it depends on the individual dealer and what their goal is. It also depends on the model year you buy, and what is on the lot.

Since the 19's are not on dealer lots yet, the 18's will be pushed as soon as the '19 is announced. No way to know cons of '19 until it is released and reviewed.

Hard to say if say lease and financing will come back as fed rates are going up. So waiting may get you a better price, but higher financing rate.

Thank you for your replies and advice. I will do more research on cylinder deactivation as I had heard about in reviews but did not know it was an issue with owners.

Although Im against the cylinder deactivation, but if you keep your vehicle for only 4 years Id say you shouldnt worry too much about CD.

If you dont want spend more money than $30K, or you dont need an AWD, you shouldn't consider these new 2019 2.5T CX-5s. The only difference between 2018 and 2019 CX-5 GT is 19s has nicer-looking 19 wheels IMO.

On a side note, i stopped nto the dealership the other day and they had a floor model that the salesman referred to as the "Rover" package which comes with two tone painted roof, side mirrors and blacked out Mazda signage and emblem. Looked pretty sweet. He said the dealership is charging ~$2300 for the package. Havent seen this anywhere on the forums or on social media

Lame. Thats a $700 wrap and plastidipped rims. $1k all day long total at a high end shop.

Some dealers have strange notions of "added value"!

Just comes to show the power of presentation. Even if a certain customer knows the real costs he/she may still buy it on pure "gotta have it" adrenaline.

I would take the 17 if a new was available in your config - highly unlikely.
I would take an 18 with CD. There are people posting 35+ mpg on trips, 45+ for Mzd6. There is a certain steady state style of driving that can yield really good rewards - be it mpg or more miles / tank which for CX5 are on the lower end.
If you are not interested in cooled seats / folding mirrors / heated steering / nappa leather and japanese wood interior and 2.5T the 2019s dont make sense.
IMO the best trim combinations right now for CX5 are Sport with iActive and Touring with Preff. Package.

If this means anything to you, the 2019 models, other than Sport Trim, have Android Auto/Apple CarPlay integration. My $.02, I'm waiting for the 2019's because of this.

Starting from 2019, Mazda is putting the following on the signature model.
Auto-folding side mirrors, 360 view camera, front/back ultrasound sensors.
in addition to AWD and Turbo engine. All standard on signature.

This applies to CX9 and CX5.
Standards on 2019 Mazda6 has not been announced yet, but I expect a similar list except for the AWD.

Thoughts in the following offer:

2018 CX-5 AWD Touring with Preferred Package, Machine Gray
MSRP - $30,010
Sale - $27,500
Customer Cash - $1,000
Tax, Titl, Lic - $2,420

OTD - $28,920
Not Financed through Mazda
Free Apple Carplay upgrade when it comes available.

Could I improve? Thoughts?
