How to clean stuck/slow infotainment console buttons?

I've been told by Mazda that this is a $800 repair because the switch is not faulty, owner problem from spills. I thick it is a design error. Why have horizontal switches? Asking for trouble. And they see this problem frequently. They should offer repair for free.Hi - I've searched on the forums but can't seem to find any suggestions.
The favorite button is along with the home button in between the two seats are sticking and/or slow.
Anyone have a save way to clean them so they work properly?
