Does buying car at end of month really help you get a deal?

:
2015 CX-5 Touring FWD Soul Red
I've heard this many times: If you buy your car during the last few days of the month, you're likely to get a better deal because the salesperson may need to sell some vehicles to meet their quota. Is this real? Wouldn't everybody just buy their car on the last day of the month? And dealerships would find a way to counteract this loss of leverage, I'd think. Or maybe I just want an excuse to buy my CX-5 early! I'm waiting til the end of March because of this end of month business.

It makes sense because they want to avoid paying interest rates on as much inventory as possible. It costs money to keep the car on the lot. For example, check a local dealership website for the Mitsubishi mirage price. then at the end of the month, look to see if they are offering some type of incentive.
