Can anyone recommend when I should have my car get the routine service/maintenance? My car's about to hit 5k miles and I'm wondering if I need to have it done when it hits 5k vs 7.5k... or wait for the maintenance icon to pop out?

Check out the owners manual it will show you all the maintenance intervals you are looking for.

If in doubt, you're probably on the more frequent schedule.

unless you're doing "severe" driving, then the manual recommends every 7500 miles or 6 months, whichever is first. also, the manual recommends castrol brand 0w20 engine oil. the first service is only oil/filter change, tire rotation, lubricate locks and hinges.

Look how they define severe, it's like an abnormality if you're NOT severe.

And check your owner manual - the Info center allows you to set things like maintenance intervals (either by miles or calendar) for automatic reminders in your display.
