So here's my short list;

Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec - $167 a peice/shipped
Kuhmo Ecsta XS - $152 a peice/shipped
Hankook Ventus R-S2 - $84 a peice (closeout)/ +$50 shipping for 4

what should I do? The car is not a DD, and only get's about 3k miles a year, which are only on backroads, and a few trips to the dragon. Never driven in winter or rain.

i would go dunlop... thats what i'm going to try and get in a few thousand miles, even though i DD the car

I'm running the Dunlop Direzza's but the non star spec. I initially went in for the star specs but they did not have them instock and I was on the spare so I didn't have a choice. The ones that I have I love!!! great grip and allows me to comfortably take corners hard. I could just imagine how much grippier and more stable the star specs would be!!! I'd probably have less wheel spin at launch and I would break loose as much when shifting to 2nd

I actually went ahead and bought the Hankook Ventus R-S2. For under $400 a set shipped I couldn't say no. I talked to some auto-x guys, and they all agree, if I'm not doing any auto-x'ing or anything, I won't need the latest and greatest tires.
