08 Mazda5 as Bluetooth headset

I have noticed that in the 08 Mazda5 when using the vehicle itself with any bluetooth phone, the sound is rough. I know the mic is located in the vent (which is extremely odd) and that turning down the AC or heat is recommended, but even with them both off, the quality isn't really there.

Anytime I am talking to my wife in the 5, it sounds fine when nothing is being said. But each time anything is said, it sounds like the wind is right there with each word.

I like the feature but it needs some improvements. Any one else having these issues?(help)

the feature works fine for us, apart from her sounding like she's 800ft away from the mic. i just have to turn up my phone volume when i talk to her.

^^According to the Owner's Manual, the mic isn't in the vent. It's right next to the buttons to set the clock, below the information display thingy.
