    Mazda5 torture test.

We had it set for most of the time at 19 deg C to about 17.5 at it's lowest. We just pointed the vents upwards of the ceiling to direct the cool air high first and it seemed to do the trick...so not really sure why the bad rap from some on 2006 MZ5 A/C?

    Mazda5 torture test.

OK....well, here goes. I keep my fuel mileage stats in a program called Kar Kare 2 on the PDA. Note that all the stats are incomplete as I haven't filled the last tank since returning on Friday night. We really loaded up the Thule Cascade XT carrier, which has 17cu. ft of storage space. To...

    Mazda5 torture test.

I'm probably not the best person to ask as they are still the OEM Toyos. We're at 31000 miles (have only had the car for a month-and-a-half) and they're coming off at the 35000 mile service. We just got a nail removed from one of the front tires and there's a fair bit of inside wear, but the...

    Mazda5 torture test.

Thanks for the post, Snagjim. We'll be leaving in 2 days time from Chilliwack, BC and will be driving the Coquihalla Hwy and taking the Trans-Canada across to Cochrane and then detour off there to Airdrie, up to Red Deer. From there daytrips out to Drumheller and Calgary. Then up to Edmonton...

Roof rack: is yours weak too?

Actually quite the opposite. I removed the cargo carrier and racks tonight to take a look-see and noticed some marking from the bottom of the feet on the black rails around where the fixpoints were. It's minor, but was surprised. I also put the metal shims that came with the 460 Foot Pack...

Roof Rack For The Mazda5 Thread

It's got about 3 inches between the box and the antenna, but that's with the box adjusted so that it's as far back as possible. With the adjustable Quick Snaps, the box can be brought forward more. I'm surprised at how cavernous it is inside...it'll be good for the 2200km roadtrip from...

Roof Rack For The Mazda5 Thread

Installed a Thule rack yesterday with the 460 Foot Pack, 3069 Fit Kit, 50" bars, and a Cascade XT 1700 cargo carrier. Also took pics of the install enough to put together a "How to" but not sure if anyone would gain from it. Here's the pics:

    Baby Borrowers

Yup, looked like from a cul-de-sac view that they all have MZ5s. Had to laugh at last night's episode though with the toddlers...especially the one who relieved himself on the couch. What makes it bizarre though is having to parent pre-teens and then senior citizens. Not even many of the...

Roof Rack For The Mazda5 Thread

Thanks for posting the pics! Gives me a better idea for how the 17 cu. ft. box will fit as it looks like you didn't have much problem with it interferring with the antenna in the back or overhanging in the front (alright)

Roof Rack For The Mazda5 Thread

Well, taking the plunge and ordering the Thule parts to assemble the rack myself. Also, tried Craigslist and www.rackattack.com to find cargo carriers, but REI had a pretty good price on a Cascade XL box. Looking forward to seeing how this all goes together!

Mazda5 Tires: Issues & Replacement Recommendations

Hey dann and misti, can you give an update on how the General's are working out? I'm looking at these or the Michelin Pilot Exaltos.....

    Sylvania/Osram 1157 Signal lights

Quite surprised that replacing the low beams and that #$%# clip was harder than reaching behind the fender liner to change the signals. Here's before and afters:

    Dumb AC question

I don't have much else to compare our MZ5 to except our Toyota Echo, which takes WAY more time to chill the interior than our '06 5. We've been impressed considering it doesn't even have the A/C vent in the back.

    Sylvania/Osram 1157 Signal lights

Tried doing a search through the forums to see if anyone has swapped the orange turn signal lights out for the blue "incandescent" bulbs. I have these in my Toyota Echo and have been very pleased with them, but it would appear to be a PITA to get to them on the MZ5. Do you need to remove the...
