Had the same dilemma when I looked for a CX-5. Didn't care much about the larger wheels nor leather. Was able to find the exact Touring + Tech at a dealer 45 minutes away so I went with that. Not a common/popular combo, to be sure.

I think the main reason the LED CX-5 didn't get the same score as the -3 is due to the glare.

To be fair, the family sedan will have much lower drag. If you cruise at 80mph+, that'll easily explain it.

I think Mazda is more 'fun' than Scion. Funky, sure, but not nearly as fun. FR-S being the exception.

It has a 6-speed. With 310lb of torque on tap, it doesn't really need any more gears, to be honest. Insta-torque, no waiting for downshifting.

Enjoy the Jeep, it should be quite good for offroading. You're definitely giving up on-road handling, and reliability to the Mazda though.
