High Mileage CX-5s - report in

wow, you guys are good. Crash test was one. The shifter was also a mid year change with a few other things. I 'd have to look up my files but at the time, there were some upgrades that made me look for the mid year.

High Mileage CX-5s - report in

We have a 14.5 and just hitting 150k kms so pretty low compared to some of you. Still runs great, good fuel mileage. The body is in great shape and still puts out a pretty good shine. We did have a few misc problems in the first couple years that were fixed under warranty. Original brakes have...

    CX-5 NA Oil weight 0w20 or 5w30?

thanks for the charts, basically what it shows in the manual. 5w30 apparently is good till -30C. Up here winter is coming and -30 does happen. So probably best to keep what is "normal" spec for the engine. I do have an oil change coming up and figured using the 5w30 already stocked in my shop...

    CX-5 NA Oil weight 0w20 or 5w30?

Is it ok to use 5w30 in my 2.5L (non turbo)?? The manual states to use 0w20 for US/Canada. 5w30 is an option if living somewhere else. My other vehicles use 5w30, and always have a case sitting on the shelf. I'll continue to buy that special jug for the CX5 but it would be convenient if they...

Help with oil leak (2014.5 CX-5)

Just a little update........we've put on 1000 kms now and no leak anywhere. So for sure it was a road hazard, jug of some type of oil that got drove over.

Help with oil leak (2014.5 CX-5)

Thanks for the comments. Just to clarify, there's a lot of fluid, not just a few little drips. First thing i did was take off the access door to the drain plug and filter. Everything is perfectly clean and dry. The oil slick starts 3 ft behind the front tire. So starting taking off that plastic...

Help with oil leak (2014.5 CX-5)

I noticed some oil drops on the garage floor so took a peek under the car. WTF. There's a big oils slick but i can't find where it's coming from. With the plastic covering, it's spread all over. Starts about mid way under the passenger front seat all the way to the back. Gold color like engine...

What engine coolant to do a flush?

well sorry for starting a debate on concentrate or premix, thats' beside the point. Was more concerned about the type. It does say FL22 on the rad cap, so buying the "mazda" compatible seems to be the smart choice, and not using the yellow jug that reads good for all makes and models.

What engine coolant to do a flush?

Been a while since I been on here. Our 2014 is still purring along. Figured it's time to do a coolant flush. We're at 8 years, and about 120,000 kms. So do I need anything special for coolant?? One store sells ONE jug, "good for all makes and models". The next store has 10 different colored...

How many miles before you replaced your original tires?

Original Yoko 17" replaced at 63500 kms (39400 miles). Yes that is 6 years , but I do swap them out with a winter set. They did wear straight, no cracking, but were down to the wear bars and minimal tread. New tires are Nokian Entyre C/S

    2016 CX-5 Touring wheels...HELP can't find any

You need to broaden the search criteria, especially the offset. Don't know numbers off the top of my head, but the Touring wheels/tires are inset a fair bit. A little more offset will give you lots of choices. I did the same thing on my 14. The wheels I put on sit a little bit more outward but...

    Buying a CX-5

this thrd is a couple weeks old but...……….we have a 2014 with 92000 kms on the clock and the original owner. While we did have a few misc problems in the first 2 years, mostly cause the dealer was an idiot. After that headache was over, the CX5 has been a great vehicle. We haven't spent anything...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Just did the super duper clean. Swapped on the summer tires/wheels, give the suspension a good wash. Then drive up on ramps and wash every nook and cranny to get rid of the winter scunge. Surprisingly, everything still looks ok under there.

    Engine Cleaning

Actually just did this the other day. I usually wash the under carriage and the engine bay a couple times a year when I swap the seasonal tires over. I might give it a light spray of Spray-9, and then blast away with my electric pressure washer. Been doing that since day 1 and no ill affects,

Leaving my CX-5 for 6 weeks on vacation, how should I prepare?

Leaving your car parked for 6 weeks shouldn't be an issue. They are allowed to sit alone for long periods. My truck has been sitting outside for the last 3 weeks. Temps have hovered between -30C to 0C. Started up this morning no problem. I didn't disconnect the battery, no trickle charger, no...

    Yep, another snow tire thread...

We are now on our 5th winter with the Hakka R2 tires and they're still performing great, lots of tread left. (Car only has 80,000 km so half and half). We have a FWD and it handles the snow and ice very well. Easily drive through snow deeper than the under carriage. Gives a good planted feel on...

    Oil dilution

What does Canada have anything to do with warming up the engine.?? We do have temps up here above freezing. Actually starting the engine and letting it idle for several minutes does not help the issue. I've "trained" the wife to start the car, listen for the engine tone, (the initial extra fuel...

How often do you rotate your tires?

We put on about 15,000 km per year. Do the rotation during the winter/summer tire swap, so in that 7-8000 km range. Since I do this at home, it's a good time to pressure wash the suspension and under carriage when I'm doing the swap.

Anyone had occasion to remove the underhood insulation mat?

Paris................FWIW, I had this done at the dealer. Instead of a few blobs here and there, the new adhesive was gooped on way more than the original, running beads in several spots. Looks like it was applied with some sort of caulking gun. It's been a year and hood does not vibrate any longer.

2017~2024 Door locks making extra noise

Had the noise in my 14 and warranty replaced a couple of them. Now have a third one making a noise once in while, but warranty over. Gets worse when it's cold out. Lock still works just makes noise.
