How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Well I said farewell to the CX5 this afternoon. Did a PX with the local Mercedes dealer. I am now car-less (sort of) until the GLC is delivered in March. Incidentally I managed to get a significant discount from Mercedes through the Caravan Club Affinity Scheme - it effectively paid for the...

How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Nothing as fast as that I'm afraid. It's a 1300 - same engine that was used in the Spitfire and Herald. I got it running again this summer after a few years in the garage gathering dust. I try to take it out at weekends if it's dry. She's only got 31,000 on the clock from new.

How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

The 220 and 250 have the same engine with the latter tuned to produce a higher output and torque. Same braked trailer towing capacity for both variants though. I've done without a space-saver in the current CX-5 and luckily never had any tyre incidents. I'm banking on the same with the Merc...

How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Yes I saw that video a week or two back. It confirmed my own thoughts about not going for another CX-5 and it also made me think twice about being an early adopter of the new model. I'm sure that the new CX-5 will not be using any particularly new technologies - the first model was after all a...

How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

I popped into Heritage VW in Weston this afternoon to look at the Tiguan. Quite nice but by the time I'd specified it to the same level as the CX 5 Sport Nav the price was North of 32k!!! I mean seriously! As I say it was quite nice but definitely not worth that sort of money and that was only...

How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Thanks for all the responses. I've considered the Seat Ateca as a cut-price Tiguan alternative but they seem to have skimped on the quality of materials and features. It's been built up to a price rather than competing directly with the VW version. The X-Trail I've considered but Im not that...

How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Have'nt been on here for a while. My CX-5 is coming up for 3 years old and it's time to be moving on. Went along to my Mazda dealer just after New Year to see what there are in the way of offers. Apparently the stock of CX-5s in the UK is limited as the factory stopped producing them a few...

USB thumb drive not being read

So I've had my 2015 CX-5 Sport Nav for a couple of years (I'm in the UK so it's the top of the range model with Bose sound system). Aside from the much commented on delay for the USB drive to be scanned following engine start-up and never resuming tracks, it's worked okay. But all of a sudden...

    Options from across the pond?

You're right. In the UK my fully loaded CX-5 is akin to the US Grand Touring but cost the equivalent of $40,000 including taxes. Having said that there are a number of extras that we get as standard but not really enough to justify the price difference.

How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Well surprise, surprise.......the dealer couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission. Software update was applied but seems to make not a jot of difference. Bit peeved though, having picked the car up I was travelling down the motorway only to realise that the bonnet hadn't been secured...

How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

My CX 5 is going into the dealer this evening for them to look at a couple of issues. One is the high revs at startup, for which they're applying the software update but I'd be interested if anyone else has had transmission issues. This appears to be an intermittent thing and occurs when...

Interested to know how you've fitted this. Have you had it wired in for power?

    Noise when releasing clutch

Yes, but its only got 15,000 miles on the clock so it can't be normal wear and tear.

    Noise when releasing clutch

I appear to have an intermittent noise from the clutch when I release it in 1st gear and move from being stationary. It almost sounds as if the clutch plate is grinding against something with a groan. It doesn't happen all the time but seems to occur most often during wet weather or immediately...

Tyre pressure can be reset after a check. It normally involves changing the maintenance interval to a different value then changing back again.

    2016 CX-5 Japan Model

You are right. In comparison to the European market, cars in the US are incredibly inexpensive however you don't get a large number of features that drivers over here expect as standard unless you climb aboard the options list in a big way. The other side of the coin is that US-produced cars...

How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Useful feedback on the 2015 model. Thanks. I do like the improved interior. My Sport Nav Diesel is just over a year old so no chance of me swapping for a new one for some time, especially as my current one is pretty much problem free. I may have the same issue with an over-sensitive tyre...

All weather rubber floor mats for UK CX-5?

Its not very clear from the website if they do front row floor mats. Back row yes........but they're universal. Right hand drive front row doesn't appear to be a choice.

Wishing N.A. CX-5 had rear fog lights

The problem is when people have their fog lights illuminated in wet weather which makes the problem of glare seriously annoying for following drivers. Over this side of the Atlantic the inappropriate use fog lights is not only illegal but the perpetrator will find themselves on the receiving end...
