    Sound deadening my car

I've tried this many times over the years... Insulation can cut down some airborne road noise, but I suspect the bulk of it comes from the suspension mount points that directly transfer vibration to the chasis - probably not much can be done about that. With quite a bit of MLV on the floor, mine...

    Mazda5 Lifespan

haven't posted here for a long time now... Still got my 2012 6MT. After years of 140 miles/day highway commute, it's at 210K miles now. Engine and transmission still going smoothly. It's a shame to admit - I forgot about spark plugs, even though I've been very good with oil change and other...

    MotorTrend tests the 2014 Mazda5 Sport 6M

Tech probably won't fix stupid, but it'll help you avoid the stupid bastards speeding in the parking lot while you're trying to back out.

On the psychology of cops and minivans

The 5 is remarkably balance. Weight transition in turns is very smooth and controlled. I'm addicted to driving it - 90K miles on my 2012 Sport 6MT now. Road noise is giving me a beating, but man that steering wheel feels awesome. And yes I think it's invisible to cops' radars and even eye vision :)

New model Mazda5 - not immune from suspension problems

Thank you JMJ! I'll get the part and see if it'll cure this annoying creaking noise :)

New model Mazda5 - not immune from suspension problems

JMJ, do you know which one they replaced? I'm suspecting the left side (transmission mount) on mine, and if that's what they replaced on yours I'll just take the chance and buy the part to DIY it. The rear mount looks like a pain, and if that's the case I'll have to think twice about doing it...

    MotorTrend tests the 2014 Mazda5 Sport 6M

I have a really long commute, and besides the road noise, I love my 5. Got it because of the sliding door + 6MT combo. After 3 years in an Odyssey, the 5 feels fantastic. I love it more than any other vehicle I've owned - including a 2003 Audi A3 6MT. It's not great on test tracks, but it feels...

    This is the 2015 Mazda2

IMO this is the best looking Kodo implementation yet in the entire Mazda line. Interior is extraordinary. Whoever design this 2 are true artists.

New model Mazda5 - not immune from suspension problems

So I have both the clicking and creaking noises every time accelerating from stop. The clicking also happen on engine braking in lower gears. I ordered a new lower control arm on the left side and just installed it today. First time doing any suspension work, so it was very tough - took me 4...

New model Mazda5 - not immune from suspension problems

Have they looked at the transmission engine mount? I've seen a few threads on this creaking noise. My 5 has it too. Hopefully in a couple weeks I'll have some time to replace the mount myself.

    tire and thank you

How's the road noise with those Hankook? I bought a set of Pirelli Cinturato P7 Plus a while back - very loud on rough road surface. Maybe the 17" wheel version is better than my 16". You did it right going for ride and handling. Low rolling resistance or higher tread life isn't worth enduring...

    Manual transmission clutch noise

I probably have that same noise - release clutch in low gear and then engine brake would produce the noise more clearly. I think it's the transmission mount, aka No. 4 engine mount. The rubber is probably broken, and the metal parts are banging together under load.

    Sliding-door sports car!

I haven't driven any 3, but coming from "sporty" cars like SE-R SpecV and Audi A3, I'm amazed by my 5's handling feel every time I'm behind the wheel. And that's with 16-inch stock wheels. Tires make a big difference. I just got a new set of tires a couple months ago - Pirelli P7 Plus...

New Mazda 5 owner - so happy!

Congrats! It looks great. I wish Mazda had made manual transmission available on upper trims.

    Stealership will always be stealerships

That actually wasn't as bad as my local VW dealer, who wanted $1000 to replace my thermostat which wasn't broken. I replaced the coolant sensor myself - took 15 minutes and the part is something like $50. The car runs great ever since.

First real road trip - full up in the 5!

I've been fighting with road noise in my 5 too. Started out not having much idea of what to do, I bought a pack of Stinger Roadkill dampener and applied to the trunk area, 2 front doors, foot wells, and some to the roof. The back did quiet down a bit, but the front seems to get worse - now the...

    So it is here

Congrats and have fun! I love this car. Everyday driving it, I can't help but notice how well it negotiates turns, bumps, pot holes, and any combination of those things together.

    front end squeak on '12

eyeballs, do you know which engine mount they replaced? Thanks for the clarification Vasy, I'll call the dealer and find out. Will update.

    front end squeak on '12

I have the same noise on mine, and also guessed the motor mount :) I'm way out of warranty though.

    Has anyone tried Bridgestone?

I've got a set of Pirelli P7 All Season Plus for about a couple months now. The good - smooth, very quiet on good roads, low rolling resistance and don't seem to compromise on braking. Not so good - on lousy SF bay area highways with rough surface they're very loud. As loud as my previous OEM...
