You might be a loser if you buy a CX-3 (by WaPo)

Well, I don't agree with article. What a review! Doesn't inspire confidence. (to read it, right click on "review" and open new "private" or "incognito" window) It would seem to be a great city car. Nimble. Skyactiv gets its best mpg in long suburban driving. Its a viable alternative to the...

Anyone have a Geiger Counter? Radioactive CX-5?

My CX-5 was made in Hiroshima. You have to wonder about parts being made near Fukushima. I wonder if trace radioactivity can be found in a CX-5 with a geiger counter?

CX-5 rates dead last in Motorweek Compact SUV comparison

Motorweek show this morning had a Compact SUV Comparison. The CX-5 rated dead last (Escape wasn't rated for some reason). Chevy, GMC, Nissan rated 2,3,4 ???!!! How did these NOT rank at the bottom. IMO, they should be rated; Honda, Mazda, Toyota, Subaru, Chevy, GMC, Nissan...

Loud POP from windshield every spring, but not damage yet

Was driving 20mph on an empty road when a loud POP came from my windshield, but no damage. Sounded like a 70mph rock hit it, but was going slow and no traffic. I think its from expansion of warming up from the winter. It did the same thing last spring, just once. I just hope it doesn't break...

Ford finally fixes their infotainment by replacing Mircosoft with QNX RTOS

The CX-5 and all Fords have suffered from poor infotainment for a while. Ford just announced they are replacing their Microsoft version with a new version based on QNX RTOS (BlackBerry owns it). Should be huge improvement for Ford. Hopefully the 2016 CX-5 will get the Mazda3 infotainment...

Gripe - knob to select mirrors is backwards

It was dark and I tried to adjust the side mirrors. Intuitively, clockwise would select right mirror, and counter clockwise would select the left mirror. Since there are no backlights, it was hit or miss. I missed. Its backwards! After turning on the cabin light it was apparent Mazda...

CX-5 Cold Idle Speed dependent on Temperature

We've had some really cold weather here recently. I noticed a pattern in cold idle speed and temperature. When its 0-10 degrees, the cold start idle speed is 1800rpm. When its 10-20 degrees, the cold start idle speed is 1500rpm. When its 20-xx degrees, the cold start idle speed is 1200rpm...

    Amazing range of CX-5 remote

So far, I've tested my CX-5 remote up to 200 feet and it worked fine. Its real handy when you come out to a big parking lot and turn on alarm for a second to find car. Having that shark fin antenna up high insures it usually gets the signal. My old 2007 Civic remote would barely transmit 70...

CX-5 not part of Exploding Air Bag Cartridge Recall

Big to do on the news about 4.7 million cars experiencing exploding airbag cartridges that act like grenades sending shrapnel into the occupants. I looked up what cars are on the list, and the CX-5 is not there. Most are older cars. Here are the few Mazdas effected. Mazda: 18,050 total...

Why doesn't the CX-5 steering wheel lock?

For years and years every car I owned, the steering wheel would lock when you removed the keys. The CX-5 steering wheel does not lock. I assume its for theft deterrence. Cost savings? Is there other theft deterrence?

Finally happened - shirt torn caught in seltbelt clasp

Many times I've gotten my shirt caught in the selt belt clasp when I buckled up. This time it ruined my shirt. This could be cured if clasp extended one inch higher. First car I've owned where this happens all the time. Anybody else get their shirt caught while buckling up?

Anybody else feel funky downshift while sitting at a stop light?

Every once in a while, after sitting at a stoplight a few seconds, I feel a nudge that seems to be the transmission downshifting. I assume its the clutches shifting over to torque converter? Anybody else ever feel that nudge?

    AVG MPG reset tip

I always reset travel odometer and AVG MPG when I fill up. The initial AVG MPG starts out very low (17mpg) and after 50 miles climbs to real average. Thats a pain. I have found if one resets the AVG MPG while rolling faster than 40mph it quickly goes to real average within 5 miles...

So the 2016 CX-5 looks like its getting the long awaited Mazda3 infotainment system. The Europeans are getting CX-5 USB/ipod fix upon request. USB module is replaced. What about America? No fix is offered here. Is Mazda going to orphan US owners?

    CX-5 - 32mpg at 80mph !!

Really found out how sensitive the CX-5 is to high winds at high speeds on long trip. Most amazing was 32mpg at 80mph! Ran three legs of ~150 miles and resetting AVG of MPG for each. All were at 80mph but wind was different on each run. o Run1 - 20mph tail wind with strong gusts - 32.0mpg...
