Yea it was pretty bad, good thing I caught it in time. I knew the car was leaking pretty good but did not expect this! Lucky a rock didn't hit that corner and dump all my oil out on me! Got the new pan on and the new front pipe and all is good! Next thing to tackle is the timing belt.

So, has anyone had a problem where the oil pan weaping oil from excessive rust? I thought it was my drain bolt gasket, replaced it but still leaked. Thought okay, its the pan gasket, cleaned it up and the upper gasket area is dry but the lower pan is wet? So from what I can figure is the pan is...

Does anyone know of the location of the neutral safety switch on a 2003 Mazda Protege DX with Automatic tranny? My car will not start in park sometimes and I have to put it in neutral, other times it is fine.

So I ended up just drilling EVERYTHING out and made it a size bigger, went to Home Depot to get a new bolt, nut, and washer and here was the result. Pretty happy about how it went!

So, I was inspecting my timing belt since I have 75k miles on the car now and upon removing the valve cover one of the bolts snapped clean off with the head.. I tried drilling it, snapped the bit, tried to drill the old bit out and no luck.. So I just put the cover back on without that bolt...

So when I tested it the top nipple of the solenoid would not hold vaccumm, but the bottom would hold? Does this mean it is bad or is this normal behavior of the valve since the bottom is the side that is getting sucked into the throttle body?

Can someone please tell me what hose connects to what port on the Purge Valve? 03 Protege. I took it off to test (was faulty) and forgot to mark what hose goes where...

Is that the one under the hood by the Intake Tube? If so I disconnected it and tested it and it seemed to work fine, I couldn't blow through it when it was off the car? Or is it the one by the charcoal canister under the car?

Never done a timing belt before, these cars pretty easy? Also RockAuto sells a timing component set. One is an Airtex and one is a DAYCO. It comes with waterpump, belt, tensioner, pulley, etc. What brand should I go with...

Sorry for taking forever, been very busy. It happens if I fill it half way, full, 5 bucks, 30 bucks. No matter what. Is there a way to check the purge solenoid? If i take it off it should not be able to blow threw right?

I gave up on it.. i got everything off, axle nut, shock bolts, ball joint bolt, tie rod bolt, caliper bracket, then i got to the damn AXLE itself... this thing is so siezed into the hub i called it quits... i tried hammering with the nut on, pentatrating oil, air hammer, a puller that pushes on...

Any way to do this without a bearing puller or a press? Was just gonna hammer in and out the bearings with a hammer and some sockets..

UPDATE: Car is now sputtering VERY badly at idle and stalls out if I do not give it any gas. Once the car is above 1,000ish RPM the problem clears, it is JUST idle... NO CEL's? I am stumped and frustrated...

My MPG is around 19-22 depending on my city/highyway mix
