2012 brake rotors 'warped' at 16K miles

Honestly this is the first car we HAVEN'T warped the rotors on. We're at 25xxx miles and they're in excellent condition. We had a 2002 Focus we warped the rotors on every 4500 miles or less. Ford actually gave us half the purchase price of the car back in exchange for leaving them alone...

    Low Beam HID Conversion Kit

You're not going to get glare from a HID retro in a projector. What you are most likely to get is a malformed hotspot, projection issues like spider webs and poor cutoff. I'm not trying to justify it, it's still wrong. You're still going to get much, much better light from a proper projector...

Mazda? Not so sure.. Ford/GM/Dodge, they'd deny deny deny. I'm guessing they'd still deny and risk it, rather than set a precedent. After all, you probably have no way to prove for certain that the oil being sampled was really from what you said it was.. I don't think that'd hold up in court...

Finally got one after 3 years!

Do you have your own section at Tom's or something? I haven't been there other than the news feed for months, it'd be great if they brought some new stuff in.

Amazing to see this done to a Honda Odyssey...

Yea. There are 3 civic's running around my town that haven't figured that part out.

    Low Beam HID Conversion Kit

I hear ya. I'm the same way. I've seen shots of the m3 projectors with HID's on hidplanet and they seem alright. I'm sure the spread and hotspots aren't quite right in person but thats hard to judge from internet pics.

    Low Beam HID Conversion Kit

Do you understand the factory circuit? Do you realize how much extra you're asking that factory circuit to handle? Constant power draw is lower than halogen yes, but the cold start surge can be quite a bit more. It may work, it may may not. It's still putting a lot of stress on a system not...

Mazda 5 2012 - Looking for a rear air control console

You don't want it. Honestly it's pretty useless. We literally never bother with turning it on.

Things you noticed about your Mazda 5

Speaking of, I wish that the few programmable features these cars have were user programmable, not dealer programmable. re: I hate auto locking. There is some stuff you can fiddle with, by you; I mean you can have the dealer fiddle with.

Amazing to see this done to a Honda Odyssey...

If you noticed, it appeared to be layed out for that shot. At the end with it driving the van was a bit higher and didn't seem to have such bad camber. I'm also going to guess that burn outs is about all that thing is good for, "1000HP" + FWD + a pretty heavy vehicle = lots of carnage, generally.

^ if you believe THAT you're a fool. Are you under warranty? If you are, it doesn't matter since you need to continue the factory recommendations to keep the warranty. If not, and you're willing to do used oil analyses, then go for it. 15k miles is chump change for a high end oil, and more...

    Low Beam HID Conversion Kit

HID bulbs actually run at a lower temperature than halogen. I've done a bit of research on this, and it seems as if Mazda projectors (halogen) tend to take well to HID retrofits. I normally do a full retrofit of real HID projectors but I'll try running a conversion in this car first and see...

Things you noticed about your Mazda 5

I do a lot of mountain driving (you pretty much have to climb and/or descend a mountain pass to go anywhere outside of the valley), and I've found I actually like the manumatic shifter. It's pretty smart, if you want engine braking, all you have to do is move it to Manual and it'll automatically...

Non-switched (always on) circuit on in-cab fuse panel for 2012/third gen?

Yes, it's 12GA speaker wire, but it's more than safe for this particular application. For poking the wire through the grommet, I used an awl, after making sure there wasn't anything in the way behind it inside the car. Zip tied in plenty of places safe and away from the exhaust.

Non-switched (always on) circuit on in-cab fuse panel for 2012/third gen?

Well, there is always a test light and old fashioned figuring it out. Running your own circuit is the right way to do it, though. I don't think I've got 15' into it. Maybe 5'. And about 10 minutes of work.

Convert accessory socket from switched to always on

It's a simple fix. I ran a 12GA bonded pair wire from the battery, inline 15A fuse as close to the battery + terminal as possible, through a grommet on the passenger side, up under the dash, zip tied as needed. Then at the acc outlet, disconnect the OE connector, crimp on a 1/4" spade...

Mazda5 reliability - how does it compare?

Already part of TrueDelta, have been reporting on it for years with every vehicle I've had. My Mazda 5 since it was new. I think it's a great idea, and glad you're doing it.
