What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Nice, I was thinking about doing this myself, so I can get a bike rack. I hate the way some hitches look though, when the bike rack isn't installed: like the car has dingleberries hanging where it forgot to wipe its butt. (boom06) When you have time, could you post another photo of your finished install, showing the whole car with wheels on the ground?

here are my dingleberries

Bought one (good start, right)?
Started modding. I waited until there was about 300 miles on the odometer, so slow start (lol2)
Roof rails dipped in black. Wheels this weekend, but I may go anthracite metallic grey on them. Rear end badges have to go too.

Traded in my 2012 VW Tiguan for the CX-5. Tiguan had more power, but they're both great!

saved by the noodle

smallish garage, and door opening/height

noticed that the cx-5 rear door came realllllly close to hitting the garage door when it lifted

so grabbed a few pool noodles, cut to size, attached to garage door with stiff wire through noodle, attached to garage door frame :)

We hang a ping pong ball from a string attached to the ceiling. Once the ping pong ball hits the windshield, we know that it's time to stop. This helps my mom from going too far in, but perhaps it can also hlp you from not going in enough :)

yeah, got the spray paint line on the wall to line the side mirror up on, and the dead centre 2x4 stud on front wall for aiming purposes :)

but no matter how far in or not, raising the rear door full up will brush against the garage door, so needed some preventative padding

a friend of ours uses noodles to line the side of the garage, in case vehicle doors are opened too quickly

at a $1 each, it's cheap and effective
my $20,000 2 1/2 wide garage was vetoed years ago for some unknown reason

So basically you're saying JbCalg needs some balls?![emoji23](lol2)

Applied Rain-X to all glass surfaces on the outside of the vehicle. I have long been a fan of Rain-X. Friend of mine with a '69 Camaro didn't have wipers because they interfered with the cowl on his hood. Used Rain-X. Legal? No. But he never had an issue with rain at least.

Whoa some small garages you guys have there (Canada?). I'm glad I have an over sized 2-car garage here in the USA.

That's clever.

When I first brought home my SHO, I had difficulty shoehorning it into my garage. I have a smallish 2 car garage. I think literally the first or second day, I hadn't squeezed it in quite far enough. My wife was leaving the house, and so I was out of the car, sending her off. Before I know it, she's at the end of the driveway, commanding the door to close, and it closed on a little section of the rear bumped that sticks out a tad. Left some lovely superficial paint damage. Wasn't ever able to buff it out fully.

and here i was thinking no one was gonna go there LOL

pretty average one car attached garage for a 1970's era house
detached garages, especially add-on ones tend to be larger

some new homes seem to be all garage, no yard LOL

I picked up some used sport edition F2 rims off of Craigslist for a good price. I plan on using them for winter wheels. They are 17x7 with ET35, do you guys think the higher offset will be a problem?

well, it was yesterday, but installed a hidden-hitch class III hitch. was a decent battle at first, but overall went very smooth.

Question: Did you have to drop the exhaust to mount the hitch? I was searching the Curt Class III, and it's going for a decent price. The one thing that makes me pause is there's a note stating that the exhaust system needs to be lowered for installation. I know sometimes they throw those caveats in there "just in case", so I was wondering if it was really required? Thanks.

I dropped the exhaust when I installed mine. Just make sure you support the exhaust with muffler unhooked

Alright, well that's that then. I'll get under the car this weekend to see what's involved. Sounds like it's simple enough, then I'll get the hitch ordered. Thanks.

If you are weak and or have limited mobility (I am both), it might help to have an extra hand or something to rest once side of the trailer b**** on or you will have a hard time getting the bolt through. I was on my back, arched stomach up and using my knee to hold the other side up while trying to thread the bolt lol.
